As one of Florida’s premier higher education institutions\, MDC has been approved by the state to sponsor public charter schools—providing new opportunities for high-quality educational innovation and choice for Miami’s K-12 students. \n\n\n\nMDC\, in partnership with the Florida Charter Institute (FCI)\, recently released its Request for Proposals (RFP) for new charter applications\, with a submission deadline of Monday\, December 1\, 2025. \n\n\n\nTo support prospective applicants\, MDC will host an informational webinar on Thursday\, November 6\, 2025\, at 1:00 PM (ET) via Zoom. \n\n\n\nDuring this session\, you’ll learn: \n\n\n\n\nThe vision behind MDC’s new role as a charter school authorizer.\n\n\n\nThe application process and timeline\, including key requirements and deadlines.\n\n\n\nWhat evaluators will be looking for in high-quality applications\, including strong educational models\, governance\, financial planning\, and community impact\n\n\n\nHow MDC and FCI aim to build a model authorizing environment that champions innovation\, equity\, and excellence in education.\n\n\n\n\nThe webinar will be led by Christy Noe\, Executive Deputy Director of Authorizing for the Florida Charter Institute\, who will oversee the authorizing process for MDC. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re an experienced charter operator\, an organization with a bold new school design\, or a community leader exploring educational opportunities\, this webinar will give you the tools and insights to develop a competitive proposal.
