In this session, we will introduce Positive Discipline in the Classroom as an alternative to discipline systems that depend on rewards and consequences, extrinsic motivation. Developed by Dr. Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott Positive Discipline in the Classroom teaches an internal locust of control (doing the right thing even when no one is looking). It is designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful, and resourceful members of their communities, by teaching important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults (www.positivediscipline.com). This session will include a brief introduction to philosophy and implementation and will include several interactive activities.
