Johna Giordano – School Leader – Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science

The goal of FCI’s Distinguished Fellows program, part of FCI EDUCATE, is to build a community of exceptional leaders across Florida who, via clinically proven, research-backed development, continue to elevate the bar for instructional leadership in the state and nationally. During the Fellowship year, Fellows engage in robust development spanning various aspects of Instructional leadership. Take an opportunity to meet a member of our FCI Distinguished Fellowship.

Meet Distinguished Fellow, Johna Giordano, who is the School Leader at Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science. When she became principal, her mission was to improve the academics at the school and have more students prepared and proficient. Additionally, she sought to increase the number of students who were proficient in science and to provide increased access to robotics, coding, and inquiry-based learning.

During her time in the Distinguished Fellows Program, Ms. Giordano leveraged the lessons tied to the Science of Reading to impact instruction in her school. She effectively took the content learned and implemented it with her staff. The staff grew tremendously from the lessons she shared as it was evident in there planning meeting and, the teacher moves in the classroom. When in the space with the rest of the fellows she would always collaborate with joy.

FCI’s EDUCATE division is dedicated to enhancing educational practices within charter schools. Our comprehensive initiatives aim to foster an environment that champions continuous growth. We are grateful for the participation and the contributions Johna has made to the Fellowship this school year.
