Writing A Florida Charter Application Manual
Authorizing, Boards & Governance, Planning & Launching |
The Florida Charter Institute has recently conducted an in-depth study of over 300 charter applications and 170 evaluations to identify the key elements of successful charter submissions. This comprehensive analysis offers insights into structuring charter applications effectively, providing aspiring charter groups with a framework for creating strong applications and actionable plans for operating high-quality schools. The resulting manual is an invaluable resource, designed to guide applicants in developing thorough, well-crafted charter applications for successful school operations.
The manual goes through all of the sections of the charter applications, and seeks to answer six pivotal questions for each section:
- Identify the most common attributes found in approved charter applications.
- Compare and contrast approved and not-approved applications to identify key differences.
- Identify potential “red flags” or areas of concern frequently observed in not-approved applications.
- Categorize sponsor feedback into positive attributes and negative concerns, followed by a detailed summary of the most prevalent comments in each category.
- Offer actionable suggestions and recommendations for charter application drafters based on sponsor evaluations.
- Provide an outline of critical information to be considered while drafting each section of the charter application, drawing upon insights from approved applications.
